About
Christine’s Closet was built from personal experience.
Founder Christine Dobbyn was living in a one-bedroom unit in a Houston high-rise community and found herself needing more closet space. When she rented a nearby self-storage unit, she found the process daunting and was surprised to find there was nothing in place to house hanging clothes. To solve this challenge, she created her own walk-in closet by moving rolling racks into the space and organizing an off-site closet for regular use.
She discovered by visiting the space every couple of weeks to switch out wardrobe items and other belongings, she was actually making better use of everything she owned. She also believed there was a more convenient way to help self-storage customers. By creating a concierge-style service, customers wouldn’t have to travel to their storage space; instead, they could have their items delivered right to their door.
After leaving her career as a television news reporter and starting her MBA at Rice University in 2018, she began exploring the idea further. During an entrepreneurial studies course, she started sharing the idea with classmates to get feedback and grow her idea.
The concept soon became part of several team projects in the program. After graduation, MBA for Executives classmates Sana Allana and Stephanie Goldsby shared that they wanted to continue working on the project as part of the team and believed the concept had great potential.
The three discovered they share similar personal values and great passion for the idea and officially formed Christine’s Closet.
